My philosophy has always been rooted in prevention. I believe in helping patients achieve and maintain outstanding dental health for life. I have a particular interest in the management of tooth wear—especially early diagnosis and intervention to prevent more serious issues down the line. That passion led me to complete the full Dawson Academy training pathway, which allows me to practise Complete Dentistry. This means I look at the whole masticatory system, not just the teeth, and can help with everything from uncomfortable bites to clicking jaw joints. It’s about achieving long-term, maintainable health and comfort, while creating natural, beautiful smiles using the least invasive approach possible.

I’m proud to be a Full Member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the British Academy of Restorative Dentistry. In 2010, I completed a Certificate in Aesthetic Dentistry with Tipton Training and was honoured to be named Dentist of the Year by the Academy. In 2012, I earned a Diploma in Restorative Dentistry.

These days, I’m especially excited about the transformative power of orthodontic treatment – fixed and clear aligner therapy. I’ve worked closely with Damon Ultima and other advanced systems to help patients achieve beautifully aligned smiles—often without the need for more invasive treatments like crowns or veneers. With the right combination of realignment, whitening, and subtle bonding, we can deliver stunning results that feel as good as they look.

I hold myself to the highest standards—not just in clinical care, but in how I lead my team. I genuinely love what I do, and I strive to be the kind of boss who inspires, supports, and brings out the best in everyone around me. I’m incredibly proud of the culture we’ve created at The Old Surgery, and I’m grateful every day to work alongside such talented, caring professionals.

Thanks for taking the time to get to know me a little better—I look forward to helping you smile with confidence.

Rebecca Copeland -Lead Treatment Coordinator

Rebecca Copeland

Lead Treatment Coordinator
GDC No. 124798

Hi, I’m Rebecca—and I’ve been part of The Old Surgery Dental Practice for over 20 years. It’s been an amazing journey, and I’ve had the opportunity to grow through several roles during my time here. I began as a dental nurse, retrained as a dental hygiene/therapist in 2005, and since 2010, I’ve proudly worked as the practice’s Treatment Coordinator.

In my role as Treatment Coordinator, I offer complimentary appointments to both existing patients who want to talk through their treatment plans, and to new patients who are curious about the practice and the types of treatments we offer. I’m here to help people understand their options and feel confident in making the choices that are right for them.

A healthy mouth and a beautiful smile can have a huge impact—not just physically, but emotionally too. It’s a real privilege to help patients transform their attitudes toward dentistry, turning fear into confidence and guiding them toward fantastic results. Being part of that journey is what makes my role so rewarding.

Patients often tell me how much they appreciate having a non-clinical go-to person—someone who’s by their side every step of the way. Whether it’s answering questions, offering reassurance, or simply being a friendly face, I’m here to make sure every patient feels supported, understood, and cared for.

At The Old Surgery, we’re passionate about delivering exceptional care, and I’m proud to play a part in helping our patients feel their very best—inside and out.

Ruby Grey Lead Nurse

Ruby Grey

Lead Nurse – Queen Street
GDC No.

Hi, I’m Ruby—and I’m proud to be the Lead Nurse at our Queen Street branch of The Old Surgery. I first joined the team in 2022 as a dental nurse, and it’s been an incredible journey so far. Stepping into the lead role has given me the chance to grow, support others, and help shape the patient experience in a way that truly matters.

I love welcoming patients into the practice and making sure everything runs smoothly—from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave. I’m passionate about maintaining the highest standards and always aim to exceed expectations. It’s all about creating a calm, professional environment where patients feel safe, cared for, and confident in their treatment.

My chairside manner is something I take real pride in. Patients often tell me how much they appreciate the reassurance and warmth I bring to their appointments—and knowing I’ve helped someone feel more at ease is the best feeling in the world.

I’m currently working towards my Dental Radiography qualification, and I hope to complete my Sedation training next. I’ve also completed a Lead Nurse qualification, which has helped me strengthen my leadership skills and support my team even more effectively.

The Old Surgery is a place where care, quality, and kindness come together—and I’m proud to play a part in delivering that every day.

Emma Turner - Treatment Coordinator

Emma Turner

GDC No.

Hi, I’m Emma—and I’ve been part of The Old Surgery team since 2015, when I first joined as a dental nurse. From the very beginning, I knew this was a special place to work. Over the years, I’ve grown both professionally and personally, completing my qualification in Dental Radiography and now stepping into my current role as Treatment Coordinator.

My role is all about connection. I’m here to support patients—whether they’re exploring treatment options, have questions about their care, or just want to understand what’s possible. I offer complimentary appointments to help guide patients through their journey, making sure they feel informed, confident, and comfortable every step of the way.

What I love most is seeing the transformation—not just in smiles, but in attitudes. Helping someone move from nervous to empowered, and watching their confidence grow, is incredibly rewarding. It’s a privilege to be part of that process and to help make their experience as smooth and positive as possible.

Patients often say it’s reassuring to have someone non-clinical they can turn to—someone who’s there to listen, explain, and support. I take pride in being that person. Behind every great smile is a team working together, and I’m proud to play my part in helping our patients feel truly cared for.

The Old Surgery is more than just a dental practice—it’s a place where people are supported, respected, and inspired. I’m grateful to be part of it.

Hi, I’m Michael,
I grew up in Manchester and moved to Cardiff in 2010 to begin my dental studies, graduating with an Honours degree in 2015. Since qualifying, I’ve gained valuable experience working across both NHS and private practices in Cardiff and Swansea, which has helped shape my well-rounded approach to patient care.

I’m currently nearing the completion of a Master’s degree in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry, driven by a genuine commitment to expanding my skills and knowledge. This advanced training enables me to offer more complex treatments that restore and enhance smiles with precision and care. I’m especially passionate about helping anxious patients feel at ease—creating a calm, friendly environment where they can attend with confidence.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing the positive feedback from patients. It makes me incredibly proud and motivates me to keep learning new techniques so I can continue delivering the highest standard of care and experience.

Outside of dentistry, I love staying active and have recently taken up snowboarding—though I’m still mastering the art of not face-planting on the slopes! I’m a big sports fan, with a soft spot for international rugby thanks to my time in Wales. But my first love is football, and as a proud Mancunian, I’ve supported Manchester United since childhood.

GDC No. 278303

Hi, I’m Aby
I joined The Old Surgery in March 2024, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep passion for dentistry. I have a particular interest in restorative and aesthetic treatments, ranging from simple procedures to complex full-mouth rehabilitation cases.

I graduated with Honours from The University of Sheffield in 2018 and have since pursued advanced training, including a Postgraduate Diploma in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry, a Level 7 Diploma in Clinical Aesthetic Injectable Therapies, and I’m proud to be an Individual Premier Level Invisalign Go provider.

I’m passionate about helping people rediscover their confidence and smile more freely. I especially enjoy minimally invasive techniques like composite bonding and ortho (teeth straitening) and love changing patients’ perceptions of dentistry—making it a positive, empowering experience. My journey began at age six, after a less-than-great dental visit. I remember thinking, “I can do this—and I can do it better.” That moment sparked a lifelong commitment to compassionate, high-quality care.

During university, I volunteered as a mentor for aspiring dental students and even spent two weeks at The University of Pretoria, where I observed and assisted in the root canal treatment of a wild leopard—an unforgettable experience!

Outside of dentistry, I’m passionate about staying active. I hold a black belt in Karate, previously played for the Cheshire County Cricket Team, and have completed two 15,000ft skydives (with plans for more!). I live with my husband and young son, and I’m excited to support patients on their dental journey—always aiming to “improve smiles with a smile.”

Hello, I’m Christina,
I work exclusively with children, which is truly where my heart lies. There’s something incredibly rewarding about helping little ones feel safe and understood in the dental chair, and I love knowing that I can put both my patients and their parents at ease.

I graduated from Cardiff University in 1995 and spent some time in general practice before joining the Community Dental Service, where I had the privilege of treating individuals with special needs. That experience shaped so much of how I approach care — with patience, empathy, and a deep respect for each person’s unique needs.

In 2004, I completed my MSc in Dental Radiology at University College London, which deepened my understanding of imaging and diagnostics. These days, I focus on reducing dental anxiety in children and offer a referral service using nitrous oxide sedation — or as my young patients like to call it, “happy gas.” It’s a gentle way to help them feel more relaxed during treatment, and it makes a world of difference.

Outside of work, I’m married and have a wonderful daughter who keeps me on my toes. And when I’m not in the clinic, I’m learning to play the organ — slowly but surely!

GDC No. 61370

Hi, I’m Tom Healey.
I was born in Nantwich and educated at Sandbach School before heading to The London Hospital, where I qualified with a B.D.S. in 1986. After a year at Southend Hospital, I returned to Cheshire and spent the next 25 years working in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery departments at Chester and Leighton Hospitals. During that time, I gained my F.D.S. and was recognised as a Specialist in Oral Surgery.

In 2012, I joined The Old Surgery team—and I have to say, it’s where I feel most at home. I love the hospital environment, but being part of this close-knit practice allows me to focus on what I truly enjoy: delivering high-quality oral surgery care with a personal touch.

I regularly receive referrals for minor oral surgery, and I offer sedation where needed to make the experience as comfortable as possible for patients.

Outside of work, I live deep in the Cheshire countryside with my partner Lorraine and our four children. Life’s busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Specialist Oral Surgeon
GDC No. 68126

Hello, I’m Diana

I graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1992 and began my vocational training in Bromsgrove, before stepping into hospital dentistry in 1994. Over the years, I’ve worked as a Senior House Officer in hospitals across the North West and West Midlands, and in 1997, I was proud to attain my Fellowship in Dental Surgery.

In 1999, I took up my current role as a Staff Grade Surgeon in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Stafford Hospital, and in 2001, I was officially recognised as a Specialist in Oral Surgery. I’ve been part of The Old Surgery Dental Practice since 1998, where I focus exclusively on minor oral surgery — most often the extraction of teeth — and I provide intravenous sedation for more complex procedures or for patients who feel particularly anxious.

My Approach to Patient Care
I know that oral surgery can feel daunting for many people. That’s why I take such pride in helping patients feel calm, confident, and cared for. It’s incredibly rewarding when someone walks in feeling nervous and walks out surprised — and relieved — by how smooth and comfortable the experience was. I want every patient to know they’re in trusted, experienced hands, and that their wellbeing is my absolute priority.
Whether it’s a straightforward extraction or a more involved procedure, I’m here to make the process as gentle and reassuring as possible.

A Bit About Me
I’m originally from Newcastle-under-Lyme, and now live in South Cheshire with my husband and two children. Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and enjoying the beautiful countryside we’re lucky to have nearby.

Portrait of Dr. Carl Paisley

Carl Paisley

Special Interest in Endodontics
GDC No. 82189

Hi, I’m Dr. Carl Paisley

I graduated with honours from Leeds University in 2003, and since 2015 I’ve been accepting referrals for endodontic treatment — helping patients and colleagues manage complex root canal cases with precision and care.

My early career took me through general and hospital dental practice in Harrogate, Hull, and Leeds, before I returned to Leeds University as a Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry. I spent five fantastic years there, teaching extensively on the undergraduate programme and developing a deep interest in Endodontics — the art and science of saving teeth.

In pursuit of clinical excellence, I undertook a Master’s in Endodontology at the University of Chester, which I completed with distinction in 2018. And in April 2025, I was honoured to be invited to join the College of General Dentistry as a Senior Member, with the esteemed status of Associate Fellow (Assoc.FCGDent). This recognition reflects my professional achievements and marks an important milestone in my journey within general dentistry.

What to Expect When You See Me
When you come to see me, we’ll begin with a consultation appointment. This is a crucial step — it allows me to assess the precise nature of your dental concern and determine the most appropriate treatment option for your particular tooth. I believe in clear communication, evidence-based care, and making sure you feel confident and informed every step of the way.

Outside of the Surgery
When I’m not in clinic, you’ll probably find me behind a drum kit or playing electric guitar. I also enjoy mountain biking and digital photography — anything that gets me outdoors or lets me explore creativity in a different way.

Portrait of Dr. Tobias Spuldaro

Tobias Spuldaro

Dental Surgeon – Special Interest in periodontics
GDC No. 292561

Hi, I’m Tobias — Periodontics

I’m a dedicated general dentist with a special interest in Periodontics — the science of keeping gums healthy and teeth strong for life. My goal is simple: to help every patient achieve optimal dental health, function, and aesthetics, while preserving their natural teeth for as long as possible.

Education & Expertise
I’ve always believed that great dentistry starts with great education. That’s why I’ve invested deeply in mine. I completed both a Master’s (MSc) and a Doctorate (PhD) in Periodontics at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, in partnership with the University of Michigan — one of the top-ranked dental schools in the world.

Over the past 15 years, I’ve attended numerous international courses in advanced dentistry, constantly refining my skills and staying at the forefront of periodontal care. I’ve also spent more than five years as a clinical lecturer, teaching Advanced Clinical Dentistry and mentoring the next generation of dental professionals. Sharing knowledge is something I truly enjoy — and I’ve published several international articles in Periodontics to contribute to the field.

My Philosophy
I believe empathy is the cornerstone of great dental care. When patients feel heard and understood, we build mutual trust — and that trust leads to more accurate diagnoses and more compassionate treatment. I take the time to listen, explain, and tailor care to everyone’s needs.

Why I Love What I Do
There’s nothing more rewarding than helping someone keep their natural teeth — especially when they thought it wasn’t possible. Whether it’s reversing gum disease, improving oral hygiene, or restoring confidence in their smile, I’m here to support patients every step of the way.

Patients are referred to me for advanced Perio (gum disease) when the more routine treatment hasn’t been effective or there are gum defects that need some attention.

Portrait of Dr. Amit Mistry

Amit Mistry

Implant Surgeon
GDC No. 79207

Hello, I’m Dr. Amit Mistry

I’m an internationally renowned dental implant surgeon based in Northwest England, with a clinical practice dedicated exclusively to implant-related surgery. My passion lies in transforming lives through advanced procedures — from single implants to full-mouth rehabilitation — and I specialise in complex cases including zygomatic implants, trauma reconstructions, and bone grafting.

Expertise & Experience
Since graduating from the University of Manchester in 2001 and becoming a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2003, I’ve spent over two decades refining my skills in dental implantology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and advanced surgical techniques. I’m proud to be ZAGA-certified in zygomatic implants, and I hold key positions with the Association of Dental Implantology UK, the Nobel Biocare Clinical Advisory Board, and the Oral Reconstruction Group UK & Ireland.

At The Old Surgery Dental Practice in Crewe — we offer a truly multidisciplinary approach. Working closely with our in-house specialists, clinicians, and referring dentists, we ensure seamless treatment planning and execution, whether it’s a straightforward implant or a complex full-arch case. For colleagues confident in completing restorations, I’m happy to provide surgical-only placements, and sedation is available to make the surgical stages as comfortable as possible.

Implant Services I Provide
Here’s a snapshot of the treatments I offer:

  • Single & Multiple Implants: Ideal for patients with suitable bone conditions.
  • All-on-4 / Teeth in a Day: Immediate fixed teeth solutions for full-arch replacements.
  • Zygomatic Implants: For patients with severe bone loss in the upper jaw — no sinus lifts or large grafts required.
  • Sinus Lifts & Block Bone Grafting: Rebuilding bone where needed before implant placement.
  • Same-Day Teeth: Where applicable, I provide teeth on the day of surgery.

I welcome referrals for both routine and complex cases and collaborate closely with referring dentists to deliver long-lasting, predictable outcomes.

Teaching & Mentoring
Education is a huge part of my professional life. I’m the lead clinician for the Tipton Training Implant Course, one of the UK’s largest postgraduate implant programs. I regularly lecture and provide hands-on training across the UK, covering everything from foundational implantology to advanced techniques like sinus lifts, soft tissue enhancement, and zygomatic surgery.

I’m also actively involved with the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI) UK, where I support implant education and mentor practitioners nationwide. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your skills in complex surgical procedures, I’m here to help.

David Cohen

Specialist Endodontist
GDC No. 45658

Hello, I’m David — Specialist Endodontist

For nearly 40 years, I’ve been helping general dental practitioners solve their endodontic challenges. In that time, I’ve treated over 20,000 teeth — each one with the same care and precision that first drew me to this fascinating field.

I qualified in 1971 with a BDS from the Royal Dental Hospital of London, followed by LDSRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1972. My early years in general practice were spent in Manchester, where a lecture in 1976 sparked my lifelong interest in Endodontics. That moment changed everything.

To deepen my understanding, I pursued postgraduate training at Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry under the legendary Dr. Herbert Schilder. In 1981, I began part-time postgraduate research in Endodontics, earning an MSc in 1984 with a thesis titled “An Investigation into the Relative Merits of Some Endodontic Filling Systems.” That journey continued with further research, culminating in a PhD from the University of Manchester in 1991. My thesis — “Development and Evaluation of Endodontic Filling and Pulp Capping Materials” — led to the creation of new materials and worldwide patents in both root filling and pulp capping.

In 1981, I opened a practice Limited to Endodontics, initially part-time, which has since grown into a full-time specialist practice. Alongside clinical work, I’ve taught both postgraduate and undergraduate students as a Lecturer at Manchester Dental Hospital, and I currently hold the position of Honorary Research Associate at Manchester University.

I’ve written extensively on endodontic topics and had the privilege of serving as a Visiting Fellow to the Singapore Ministry of Health in 1994. I’ve lectured widely across the UK and USA, and I was proud to be admitted to the Endodontic Specialist Register when it was inaugurated in 1998.

I’ve also served as President of the British Endodontic Society and held leadership roles in several dental and endodontic associations. Since 1979, I’ve been a regular attender at meetings of the American Association of Endodontists — a community that continues to inspire and challenge me.

In addition to clinical and academic work, I’ve produced over 500 medico-legal reports for solicitors representing both claimants and defendants. In 2005, I was awarded a Certificate of Expert Witness Accreditation by Cardiff University, and in 2008, I became a member of the Expert Witness Institute.

Endodontics has been my passion, my profession, and my purpose. Whether I’m treating a complex case, mentoring a young dentist, or contributing to research, I remain committed to advancing the field and supporting colleagues in delivering the best possible care.

On top of all that I’ve written a book called “A mouthful of Humour”

Hi, I’m Monika—and I’ve been a dental nurse at The Old Surgery since 2018.

My current role is as a Decontamination Technician, where I focus on one of the most important aspects of patient care: safety.

I ensure that all instruments are processed correctly and in full compliance with infection prevention protocols and HTM 01-05 standards. It’s a role that requires precision, consistency, and a strong understanding of best practices—and I take great pride in doing it to the highest standard.

Making sure each surgery is fully equipped with the right instruments is key to keeping the practice running smoothly. Behind the scenes, I help create a safe, efficient environment that allows our clinical team to focus on delivering excellent care.

Patient safety is always my top priority, and I’m proud to play a vital role in supporting both our team and the people we care for.

Hi, I’m Georgia.
I joined The Old Surgery in 2022 as a dental nurse and have loved every moment of my role. I pride myself on being highly organised and thrive on turning busy days into smooth, efficient ones.
I’ve gained my Radiography qualification and am about to qualify as a Sedation Nurse—continually building my skills to support both patients and the wider team. I work across general dentistry, implants, endodontics, and periodontics, and I enjoy the variety and challenge that each area brings.

I’m proud to be a role model for our trainee nurses, offering guidance and encouragement as they grow in their careers.

Being part of such a dynamic and supportive team is incredibly rewarding, and I’m passionate about delivering excellent care with calm confidence.

Gilly Stubbs

Compliance/Practice Manager
GDC No. 150186

Hi, I’m Gilly—and yes, I really do love compliance! Not the tick-box kind, but the kind that genuinely makes a difference to our patients’ safety, comfort, and care. For me, it’s about constantly striving to improve what we do, how we do it, and why it matters.

I started my journey in dentistry back in 1996, qualifying as a dental nurse through the NEBDN after completing a Youth Training Scheme apprenticeship. Since then, I’ve worked across a wide range of settings—from NHS practices to orthodontics, and even in a Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery hospital department. Each role gave me a deeper understanding of patient care and the importance of doing things right.

In 2010, I stepped into the role of Practice Manager and CQC Registered Manager for an NHS practice, right in the middle of the CQC registration rollout for dental practices in England. That period was intense, but it sparked my passion for regulation and compliance. I immersed myself in the details—learning everything I could about the standards, outcomes, and how they translate into real-world care.

In 2011, I was lucky enough to join The Old Surgery Dental Practice as Compliance Officer and CQC Nominated Individual. Since then, I’ve added qualifications in Dental Radiography, Sedation, and Health & Safety to my toolkit—and yes, I’m still learning every day. I’m proud to be a member of ADAM (The Association of Dental Administrators and Managers), and I love supporting other managers across the UK. Sharing knowledge and helping others raise the bar is one of the most rewarding parts of my role.

Compliance isn’t just a job title for me—it’s a commitment. A commitment to our patients, to our team, and to the standards that keep everyone safe and cared for. I’m proud to be part of a practice that shares that vision, and I’m always here to help us do better, together.

Hi, I’m Lisa—and The Old Surgery Dental Practice has been a huge part of my life since the very beginning. Steve Lomas and I opened the doors together back in 1998, and I’m incredibly proud of everything we’ve built over the past 28 years.

From a single surgery to the thriving, respected practice we are today, it’s been a journey driven by passion, teamwork, and a relentless commitment to excellence.
I originally trained as a dental nurse at North Staffordshire Hospital and qualified in 1994. I started out in orthodontics, but quickly discovered my love for practice management. When Steve invited me to help launch The Old Surgery, I jumped at the chance—and I’ve never looked back.

Over the years, I’ve gained a wide range of qualifications in Practice Management and developed expertise across all areas of the business—from marketing and health & safety to quality standards, finance, and operations.

My role has always been about making sure the practice runs smoothly, supporting the team, and giving our clinicians the freedom to focus on patient care.

I was honoured to be named Practice Manager of the Year in both 2015 and 2016—first by The Association of Dental Administrators and Managers, and then at the prestigious Dental Awards. These recognitions mean a lot, but what matters most to me is the incredible team we’ve built. Watching our people grow, thrive, and become the best versions of themselves is the most rewarding part of my job.

I hold myself to very high standards—and I take it as a compliment when others notice! Those standards have shaped our practice culture and helped us deliver the outstanding care our patients deserve. The Old Surgery will always be at the heart of everything I do, even as I now support other practices through my consultancy, Practice Management Matters. Helping other managers and teams across the UK is a natural extension of my passion, and I’m proud to share what I’ve learned.

Whether I’m mentoring a new manager or cheering on our team at The Old Surgery, my goal is always the same: to inspire excellence, nurture growth, and make a real difference in people’s lives.

Denise Tinsley

Hi, I’m Denise—and while my background is in accounts, my heart is firmly rooted in The Old Surgery Dental Practice. I work behind the scenes, supporting the team with all things finance, and I genuinely love being part of such an amazing place filled with the best people.

My role might not be patient-facing, but everything I do is about helping the team shine. By taking care of the financial side of things, I free up our clinicians and support staff to focus on what they do best—delivering outstanding care to our patients. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that my work helps make their jobs easier and their days run smoother.

The Old Surgery isn’t just a workplace—it’s a community. Everyone here is passionate, dedicated, and genuinely cares about making a difference. I feel lucky to be part of that, and proud to contribute in my own way to the exceptional service our patients receive.

Whether it’s balancing the books or solving a spreadsheet puzzle, I’m always here to support the team behind the scenes—so they can continue doing what they do best, front and centre.

Hi, I’m Kerry—and I’ve been part of The Old Surgery team since 2008. I originally trained and worked as a dental nurse, but these days you’ll find me front of house, where I work full-time welcoming our patients and keeping everything running smoothly.

I see myself as the first face our patients meet, and I take that role seriously. It’s important to me to build trust from the moment they walk through the door—whether it’s a friendly smile, a reassuring word, or simply making sure their visit feels seamless and stress-free.

I’m focused on making sure the diary runs efficiently and that the day flows well for both patients and clinicians. I love being part of a team that’s committed to delivering great care, and I’m proud to help set the tone for every visit.

With years of experience and a passion for patient care, I bring efficiency, positivity, and the biggest of smiles to every day at The Old Surgery.

GDC Reg No: 45658

David is a Specialist Endodontist, and for over 25 years has been helping general dental practitioners solve their endodontic problems. In that time he has treated something over 20,000 teeth!

David qualified in 1971 with BDS from the Royal Dental Hospital of London and 1972 LDSRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Following qualification he worked in general practice in Manchester.

At a lecture by an endodontist in 1976, David became interested in Endodontics and in order to advance his knowledge in this field he undertook a number of postgraduate courses in the United States at Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry, under the leadership of Dr. Herbert Schilder.

In 1981 David commenced part-time postgraduate research in Endodontics, which led to him being awarded an MSc in 1984 on the strength of a thesis entitled “An Investigation into the relative merits of some Endodontic Filling Systems”.

In 1986 he was invited to undertake further research work, culminating in him being awarded a PhD by the University of Manchester in 1991 on the basis of his thesis entitled “Development and Evaluation of Endodontic Filling and Pulp Capping Materials”. This led to the development of new materials in both areas of root filling and pulp capping and worldwide patents for such materials.

In 1981 David opened a practice ‘Limited to Endodontics’ part-time, which has now grown into the full time practice. For a number of years he taught postgraduate Endodontics and undergraduate studies as a Lecturer at Manchester Dental Hospital and he currently holds the position of Honorary Research Associate at Manchester University. David was admitted to the endodontic specialist register as soon as the register was inaugurated in 1998. In 2005 he was awarded a Certificate of Expert Witness Accreditation by Cardiff University and in 2008 he was accepted as a member of the Expert Witness Institute.

Steve Lomas

BDS (Birmingham) Honorary
PG Dip Rest Dentistry from BARD
GDC 68108

Steve qualified from the University of Birmingham in 1992. He remained in the West Midlands for the next five years before moving to Crewe. Steve opened The Old Surgery Dental Practice in February 1998 and has developed it from a single handed practice to its current six surgeries.

Steve is highly committed to a preventive approach to dentistry, aiming to help his patients attain and retain excellent dental health. His special interest is the management of tooth wear, especially early diagnosis and intervention to prevent more severe problems occurring later in life.

This has led to Steve becoming one of only a handful of UK dentists to have completed the full Dawson Academy training pathway, allowing him to practise Complete Dentistry and fully understand the whole masticatory system, including being able to help with uncomfortable bites and clicking joints.

Being a Dawson dentist allows Steve to do what is necessary to achieve long term maintainable health and comfort, along with the creation of a beautiful natural smile, knowing that he is using the least amount of dentistry possible.

Steve is a Full Member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is also a member of the British Academy of Restorative Dentistry, and facilitates a South Cheshire study group on behalf of the BARD, providing postgraduate education for other dentists.

He spent 2010 completing a Certificate in Aesthetic Dentistry with the prestigious Tipton Training academy, and was delighted to have been given the accolade of Dentist of the Year 2010 by the Academy. In 2012 Steve was awarded a Diploma in Restorative Dentistry.

Steve is also very keen on cosmetic orthodontic treatments, to help quickly and easily realign teeth to significantly improve smiles without the need for more destructive crown and veneer work – beautiful results can now be achieved just through a combination of realignment, whitening and sometimes bonding a little white filling to replace worn edges of teeth.

Steve was the first dentist in South Cheshire to provide the Inman Aligner.

Steve’s other dental activities have included being a Vocational Trainer to newly qualified dentists, President of the North Staffordshire Society of Dental Surgeons, leading Peer Review study groups for local dentists, and has been a member of the Local Dental Committee and an examiner for the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses.

Cosmetic Dentistry

I am Dr. Dentist, my team and I are dedicated to undertaining cosmetic dentistry for you when it's purely the best option for your dental health.

There is ahuge range of treatments and prcedures that fall under the description of cosmetic dentistry. Yes, of course, the typical 'Hollywood Smile' is how many first think of. Whilst we can certainly amke those wonderful transformations for you, we also ensure that you never have more than you need and receive the very best care throughout.

Below are a few of the procedures we carry out on a daily basis. Hollywood, or not.

Dark discoloured teeth?

Tooth whitening is a simple procedure completed at home or in-surgery with excellent long term results which do not harm your teeth.

Discoloured Fillings

Fillings in back teeth can be made practically invisible with cosmetic fillings. Old metal fillings in back teeth can be replaced with white fillings or ceramic inlays.

Missing Teeth or Gaps

If you have missing teeth or unsightly gaps in your teeth these can be filled with cosmetic dentures, bridges or dental implants with natural looking results.

Misshapen Teeth

Can be straightened and whitened with cosmetic veneers, metal-free cosmetic crowns or invisible braces.

Old Discoloured Crowns

If you are concerned by the discolouration of your dental crowns then we can replace these with the latest metal-free eMax or Lava crowns.

False Looking Dentures

Old dentures that fit badly or look false can often be replaced with natural feeling, cosmetic dentures or possibly replaced completely with fixed bridgework.

We replace old or loose dentures with a bridge or metal based denture that is stronger, tighter, more comfortable. For the ultimate in stability we can provide implant retained dentures or bridgework.
