Cosmetic Dentistry
Hi, I’m Steve Lomas, the practice principal here at The Old Surgery.
I appreciate how important it is to feel confident when you smile. Many patients come to me and my team with concerns about the appearance of their teeth, and I assure you that there’s a solution to help you achieve the smile you’ve always wanted.
Between myself and my team, we will talk you through the various options available to you. We consider your particular situation and take into account every factor that needs to be considered to achieve the improvement you desire. As well as answering your questions about any concerns you may have about your treatment.

We will cover the number of treatments that you may require, together with your after-care, including how to keep your new smile looking great for years.
Of course, we can also discuss the range of payment options available. We do our best to ensure that you’re not only happy with your new smile but the value you receive from us.
Please make an initial consultation, so we can introduce you to the wonderful team we have here and get you smiling again.
A few reasons why our patients consider cosmetic dentistry
Dark discoloured teeth
Teeth whitening is a simple procedure. Quite often we can get your started and show you how to complete the process at home, alternatively, we are prefectly happy to undertake the whole process at our surgery with as few appointments as possible. It's important to remind you that professional teeth whitening will not harm your teeth and can quite often last a long time.
Discoloured Fillings
Some of our customers have had metal fillings in the back teeth, but new technology and process mean that it's usually straightforward to replace these with white fillings or ceramic inlays.
Missing Teeth or Gaps
If you have missing teeth or gaps in your teeth these we can help. These can be filled with cosmetic dentures, bridges or dental implants with excellent, natural looking results.
Misshapen Teeth
You may have grown up with misshapened teeth and learned to live with them. These days we can offer a range of solutions and transform your smile, Straightening, Whitening, cosmetice veneers and cleaar aligners are all at our disposal to ensure you can the treatmetn that's right for you.
Old Discoloured Crowns
If you've had a crown or crowns fitted some time ago, you may have noticed how they have discolored over time. This is often due to old technology and materials. If you are concerned by the discolouration of your dental crowns then we can replace these with the latest metal-free eMax or Lava crowns.
False Looking Dentures
If you have been putting up with old, ill-fitting that no longer fit like they did, then we can help. Our bodies change over time, unfortunately, our dentures do not. We can replace these dentures with a natural feeling, cosmetic dentures or possibly replaced completely with fixed bridgework.
Your cosmetic dentistry journey with us
Stage 1: Digital Discovery & Diagnosis
Your journey begins with a comprehensive digital assessment. Using advanced intraoral scanners, we create a precise 3D map of your teeth and bite—no messy impressions required. We also take high-resolution photographs and any necessary digital X-rays to build a complete picture of your oral health.
We examine not just your teeth, but your entire chewing system: jaw joints, facial muscles, gum health, and signs of wear, fracture, or decay. This isn’t just about identifying problems—it’s about understanding how your teeth and jaws naturally want to function, without interference. The entire process takes around 90 minutes and sets the foundation for a truly personalised treatment plan.
Stage 2: Intelligent Treatment Planning
Once we’ve gathered your digital records, our clinical team gets to work. We use virtual models and jaw simulation software to study how your bite behaves in motion. This allows us to diagnose the root causes of any wear or dysfunction—not just the symptoms.
We don’t outsource this critical step. Your dentist personally reviews your scans, photographs, and radiographs to design a treatment plan tailored to your needs. Every decision is made with precision and care, ensuring that what we propose is both effective and sustainable.
Stage 3: Collaborative Case Presentation
Now it’s your turn to be part of the process. We’ll sit down together and walk you through your digital photographs, 3D scans, and treatment options. You’ll see exactly what’s going on and understand the pros and cons of each approach.
Whether your case involves minor reshaping, cosmetic bonding, orthodontic adjustments, or full-mouth rehabilitation, we’ll break it down clearly. We’ll help you prioritise: what’s essential now, what can wait, and what’s optional. In some cases, a custom night guard or splint may be all that’s needed to pause wear and buy time before a more permanent solution.
Stage 4: Phased Treatment Delivery
Once you’re confident in the plan, we’ll build a treatment timeline that suits your lifestyle and budget. Where possible, we’ll phase the treatments to make the journey manageable and stress-free.
